Owen Cash - 2006

Owen Cash was born in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Owen was probably the most privileged of all of The Viceroys, growing up on the east coast of Florida. Being that he grew up just south of Cape Canaveral, Owen originally wanted to be an astronaut, but that wasn’t possible due to the fact that he had nodes on his vocal cords. The nodes were removed which then gave him a beautiful singing voice. At that point he knew he had to go into the music business. Owen had been taking piano lessons since he was two years old. He could now put those lessons to good use along with his new-found voice. Owen worked the local nightclub circuit on Brevard Avenue in Cocoa Beach performing Liberace, Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis tunes. In 1967, his grandfather passed away leaving him a large fortune he had made from novelty items he had invented such as: fake barf, rubber chickens, Chinese finger puzzles, wind-up teeth, and sex toys. He was now independently wealthy and had nothing but his fortune to lose. In 1975, he thought he would kick it up a notch and try his act in New York City. He wasn’t in the city for more than three weeks when he caught the attention of nightclub singer J.C. J.C. told Owen he needed him for the new act he was working on for the Copacabana. Owen jumped at the chance. It wasn’t too long after that Owen and J.C. would meet the rest of the future Viceroys. The boys kept in contact with each other over the ensuing years. Owen and J.C. joined up with Max, August and Rich to form The Viceroys in 1993 and the rest is history. Owen also has traveled to Poland, Ukraine and Croatia as part of the Ernest Hemingway Dance Company as lead dancer in "The Old Man and the Sea". He currently resides at the north end of Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan. Owen’s philosophy is: "If someone wants to give me money, I’ll take it."
